In order to make sure that your WebQuest stays aligned with your unit, you will need to copy and paste 3 things from your Stages 1 and 2 from Dr. Grace's wiki onto this page. (This will also help Dr. Theresa give you better feedback on your Intro, Task, and Conclusion.) Then you will write your first drafts of your Introduction and Conclusion.

( Feel free to copy and paste what you have on your wiki page for Dr. Grace for the GRASPS portion of your unit (Stage 2). Note that you don't need the Standards part, though you can include it if you want.)
Goal
Your task is to design some of Romes engineering feats
Role
You are Roman engineers who have to build some of Romes engineering wonders.
Audience
Your client is Julius Caesar and the people of Rome.
Situation
Julius Caesar wants to win the hearts and minds of the people, so a contest to make the best design for a wonder or a building that will improve everyone's lives has been created. You must make the best design and bid to win the commission.
Product & Performance
You will create a design to show how the chosen structure worked and explain what its purpose was and why it was so important to the lives of everyday Romans.
Understanding(s)
•Rome paved the way for modern Europe. •The U.S. adopted ideas from Rome. •Rome made great engineering wonders.
Introduction
The Romans built many great engineering marvels that still stand today. We know how they built them, what materials they used and such. We know that they were built to last because they still exist in many parts of the world as they continue to awe those who gaze upon them. However, what would it have been like to have been the one to build one of these wonders?
Task
Julius Caesar has created a challenge for all engineers in Rome. He wants to either build a very impressive wonder, or build something that will improve the lives of all the people of Rome. Julius Caesar wants to win the hearts and minds of the people since he just recently came to power. You are an engineer in Rome, and must make a design for a great wonder or building that improves peoples lives, then create a successful bid to try to win the contest. Julius Caesar and his advisers will review your designs and listen to your bid. If you convince them you will win the commission and will have great reward. To win you must show how the building will be built, what its significance is and why its important, and what it does or how it will serve the people of Rome.
Conclusion
Now that you have built one of Rome's many great wonders or buildings in the name of Julius Caesar you should have an idea of what it is like to have designed and built a wonder from the ancient world. Also you have hopefully gained an appreciation of the time and effort put into the modern marvels and wonders we have built today and can see how Roman architecture alone has influenced the U.S. and Europe. Maybe you were even inspired to look into such things on your own!
